Excellent newsletter as usual Helen - thank you. Loved the Franklin Foer piece (only realising at the end why I felt somehow I knew his story - Der - of course, his brother wrote the wonderful Everything is Illuminated! And I think your idea of sending one of your books to Putin to read at his leisure is hilarious! And finally, totally agree with Kirsten Amy about This Is Going to Hurt - absolutely spot on.
No, there’s so much TV that I find it intimidating to contemplate quite how many things I haven’t seen! I thought Zendaya was great in Dune so I’m open to it.
Understood, and sometimes recommendations can be off-putting. Give it a shot if you have time. The New Yorker had a piece which may sweeten the pot, if you like to read such things in advance of watching.
Helen, please read the New Yorker article first. The second season is problematic, less focused, difficult. I feel responsible for touting it. Doing season one only is an option.
Would love a copy of the Russian edition! My teacher would like it. Thanks!
